Leadership and Advocacy
For individuals with disabilities, their family members and community members who are interested in learning more about disability issues.
Participants will improve their self-defense, public policy activism and leadership skills by being introduced to the historical philosophy of the disability rights movement and the principles of self-determination.
Individuals have the opportunity to develop and practice the necessary self-defense skills, as well as learn strategies to access services and supports. Class members will form connections with other members of the community to create change by advocating policies and procedures that will promote that people have control over their own lives as well as the inclusion of people with disabilities in our communities.
